Melissa is a clinical psychologist and Director of The Glow Centre. Melissa is a warm, understanding clinical psychologist who holds full registration and clinical endorsement with AHPRA, is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and a fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists. Melissa is a highly skilled and experienced clinical psychologist who prides herself on her commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients, and on creating a safe, open and caring environment. Melissa prides herself on keeping up-to-date with what works in psychology.
She has 17 years of experience in a range of therapeutic environments, including hospitals, youth mental health, corrections, and private practice. Over the years she has developed a special interest and undertaken extensive training in working with people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Complex PTSD.
Melissa uses evidence-based treatments including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). For deeper and longer-term work, she uses Schema Therapy, Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
DBT is Melissa’s passion. She has undertaken advanced training in DBT PE for PTSD at The Linehan Institute in Seattle, Washington, and is trained in RO DBT. She established and continues to be a consultant to DBT teams across Queensland.
Melissa is also a Psychology Board of Australia-accredited supervisor for all supervision pathways, and enjoys providing training and supervision to psychologists and other mental health professionals, particularly clinical psychology registrars.
In her spare time, Melissa likes spending time with her young family, drinking good coffee and eating good food, and travelling.
