Kaycee is an accredited mental health social worker and has over 12 years of experience in the mental health sector, including work in public mental health and community-based mental health organisations. Through the many years of working in government and non-government organisations, Kaycee has realised her true passion is working with people who have complex trauma, personality vulnerabilities, survivors of abuse, anxiety, mood disorders and psychosis.

Kaycee is intensively trained in DBT and is a strong advocate for this treatment approach. She is a DBT individual therapist, DBT skills group facilitator and DBT coordinator who has lovingly devoted the last two years to a comprehensive DBT program at a NGO in Ipswich, the first of its kind in Queensland.

At The Glow Centre, Kaycee is part of the DBT treating team including delivering individual DBT and facilitating skills training groups.

Kaycee does use a range of other therapeutic modalities in her work, along with a strong framework with foundations in strengths-based, person-centred, recovery-focussed, trauma-informed, social justice, systems and collaborative approaches. She is respectful, non-judgmental, down to earth, empathetic, empowering, committed, loyal and creative.

Kaycee has also enjoyed leadership roles, providing supervision, mentoring and coaching.

When not working, Kaycee loves to spend time with her partner, loves her dogs (even the tumbleweeds of husky-fur that comes along with them), listening to all types of music and being an unashamed gaming, comic book and other books nerd!

What is a Mental Health Social Worker?

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) have extensive postgraduate training and experience in the field of mental health.  AMHSWs meet some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia.

The advanced training that is required to become an AMHSW and provides them with the skills for working with people with very complex presentations and comorbidities.

AMHSWs are one of the few designated allied health professional groups eligible to provide private mental health services to people with diagnosable mental health conditions or people ‘at risk’ of developing mental health conditions under the Commonwealth Medicare initiative.
