"Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light"

Brené Brown

Kelly is our thoughtful and caring Practice Manager. She is a compassionate, organised and resourceful professional who holds over two decades of experience in administration, management and customer service.

Kelly works closely with our director, Melissa Kent, to ensure all systems, processes and procedures are in place for the optimal running of the practice. She handles new client intakes and supports our amazing clinicians by managing their calendars and workloads, so that they can focus on looking after our wonderful clients.

She loves animals and has two cats, who are constantly providing comedic value and stories to share with her colleagues. She loves good coffee and is always on the lookout for cool cafes. Kelly also loves travelling, live music, true crime podcasts, and she has a keen interest in interior decorating.

Let's get to know Kelly

Q. What do you like about your job?
A. As cliché as it may sound, I enjoy being part of our client’s therapy journey. It takes courage to reach out for mental health assistance and I really respect that. That’s why I strive to make the client experience a positive and meaningful one, right from the first enquiry phone call or email. I also feel really lucky to be part of a team of genuinely wonderful people, all of whom are here because they want to be and they want to see their clients make meaningful change in their lives. And we all enjoy each other’s company and sharing a laugh.

Q. How long have you worked at The Glow Centre?
A. I joined the team in 2018, back when we were known as Melissa Kent Psychology. I’ll be celebrating my 6 year work anniversary in November!

Q. Do you use psychology strategies in your everyday life?
A. Yep! I’m big on mindfulness. My go-to when I’m feeling anxious is to practice mindful breathing or do a body scan. It makes me feel more calm and clears my mind.

Q. Favourite food?
A. I can never commit to a favourite anything (ask anyone at the practice about my indecisiveness!). But I do love pizza, sushi and chocolate.

Q. Do you have any pets?
A. I have two cats, the softest ginger boy named Reggie, and a rescue grey bundle of fluff named Alfie. They provide loads of comedy value with their antics and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m currently trying to convince my family that we should get a third cat…

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I love plants and enjoy wandering around nurseries. I also like op shopping + antiquing with my teenage daughter, checking out different cafes, and listening to live music.

Q. What do you like about your job?
A. I love the variety of people I get to meet on a daily basis. This job has also been a great introduction for me to see the ins and outs of a private psychology practice, and what I have to look forward to in the future. I also love our close-knit team, work rarely feels like work!

Q. You're currently studying psychology at uni, what drew you to this field?
A. I’m about to finish my bachelor’s degree in behavioural sciences with a minor in criminology. I’ve always wanted a career where I could feel like I was making a difference through helping people. I’ve also always been intrigued by human behaviour. I first studied psychology in high school and immediately knew it was for me. My current interests are in neuropsychology and forensic psychology.

Q. Do you use psychology strategies in your everyday life?
A. Absolutely! If I feel overwhelmed, I like to use ACT techniques of mindfulness. When I need something more, I like to use DBT TIPP skills, particularly temperature. I love using my ice globes on my face!

Q. Favourite food?
A. Pizza! Most of my life we’ve done weekly homemade pizza nights.

Q. Do you have any pets?
A. I have two rescue cats that I adopted in 2023. Misty is my slinky black girl who demands piggyback rides every night. Asha is my gorgeous grey tabby who loves his personal space.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I’m a collector of many hobbies (I start things and never finish). But recently, I’ve gotten back into reading - all things fantasy! I have a growing library of special edition books. Outside of this, you’ll find me at specialty coffee shops or at a Pilates studio.
